Some think it’ll be £25/hr while others, £500. And honestly, you’re both right. Business coaching pricing depends on so many factors.
We wanted to clear up a lot of this confusion, so we’ll break down all the business coaching costs.
There isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” business coach price. They range A LOT. Generally, this is because of the following factors:
The biggest cost decider between affordable and premium business coaching is the actual coaching format.
You have:
Alongside this, you get online and offline coaching, for example, for one-on-one coaching or group coaching. This can also impact price.
The coach’s experience will also impact cost. By how much will depend on the type of coach they are. Generally, however, coaches “rank” themselves in the following ways:
Program structure can either be customised or a fixed curriculum. Typically, group coaching is a fixed curriculum whereas the customised option is for one-on-one coaching. Of course, the bespoke curriculum will affect costs.
More frequent, flexible, and longer coaching sessions will cost more than short, scheduled, and infrequent ones. For example, a weekly coaching call on Monday at 16:00 will cost less than a random call whenever you have the time.
Depending on the coach and the skill being taught, additional support and resources may be required. These include things like:

When it comes to business coaching packages prices, realistically, there shouldn’t be any hidden costs. Your coach should go over all the costs you may encounter.
Still, sometimes, extra costs can come out of nowhere, especially when it comes to extra workshops, software, etc.
If there’s ever a concern about any “hidden” costs, ask your current or future coach. They’ll be more than happy to advise you.
Depending on the coach you choose, you may encounter some internal assessment and consultation fees. This does vary from coach to coach, however.
At ActionCOACH, you can speak to an advisor for free. It’s complimentary on us. During this, we can see whether our coaches are suited to your particular needs.
If you choose someone else, you may need to pay. This is usually the hourly cost from the coach or a discounted rate. Therefore, it can be anywhere from free to £300.
Learning new skills will require you to purchase workbooks, learning materials, and maybe even software. That’s just how learning goes. A coach can help guide you, however, at the end of the day, you still need to learn and implement what’s being taught.
The costs of these really depend on what’s required. Workbooks and learning materials can be a few hundred quid. Whereas with software, some can go into the thousands per year or month. It really depends on what’s needed.
This really depends on the type of coach you have. You may have a coach for creating a business plan. So, once the business plan is finished, you separate. However, if you still want them around for accountability or ongoing support, you’ll need to budget for it.
The costs of this will be similar to general coaching costs, so it can range from £200+ per month. Unless, of course, you network and find an accountability or ongoing support partner where you help each other for free.
For coaching, like one-on-one coaching, your coach may recommend some networking events or workshops. It’s uncommon for these to be included in the coaching fees.
Therefore, if you’re interested in visiting their recommended events, you’ll need to pay extra, and, often, a third-party.
Typically, events like conferences or tradeshows, it’ll be free (for a specific type of professional) and paid for everyone else. The prices for this can vary from £800+ (if it includes networking parties, etc.).
Similar to a haircut, if you’re a no-show, you’ll likely need to still pay the coach unless there's a valid reason. If they’ve travelled to a location or waited for you on a call, and you haven’t appeared, they’ll still need to be paid for their time.
The cost of this is, of course, the price you paid for their coaching. Therefore, it can be anywhere from fifty quid to a few hundred. It depends on how much you’re paying them and how much the cancellation or rescheduling has affected their work schedule.
Surprisingly to some, there are a number of ways that you can pay for or finance business coaching.
If you have the available funds, you can just pay for the coaching outright. This is the most popular method of paying for business coaching.
Plus, it’s classified as a business expense, so you’ll pay less tax. It benefits your company directly via leadership, strategy, and overall growth, so it is classified as an expense.
Alongside the above, you can actually get access to government-backed grants and loans. There are programs like the Business Development Grant and Enterprise Loan, which offer funding options to help cover coaching costs. There are eligibility requirements, however.
Business coaching is a legitimate business expense, allowing for tax relief. The Apprenticeship Levy, Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) offer incentives for businesses wanting to invest in development and training.
Generally, you can get a secure and unsecured business loan if neither of the options are available. Secure loads are backed by assets, so the interest is cheaper. Unsecured loans, on the other hand, don’t have collateral, so have higher interest rates.
Depending on your age, you can also get an early pension payout, pension loan, or pension drawdown. This will allow you to use some of your pension funds for business coaching. If you choose this option, just consult with a financial advisor first.
Yes. Regardless of where you are in business right now, business coaching can help you significantly.
Simply surrounding yourself with people or a coach who knows more than you can help uncover knowledge gaps, which could benefit you tenfold.
You may not even know why you need a coach. However, once you get a coach, you’ll quickly discover why. There’s so much out there that you may not know.
Because of this, our advisors are also here to help. Book a free consultation today and let us help you find a business coach worth your time, money, and investment.
As you can see, business coaching prices vary a lot. It really depends on the type of coach, their expertise, how long the sessions are, and where it’s hosted.
